There are several ways you can participate in and contribute to worship activities in our parish including:
Acolytes
Members of the Acolytes Guild assist in the worship services by serving as crucifiers, torch and banner carriers, and assisting the priest with Holy Eucharist.
Eucharistic Ministers
Eucharistic Ministers assist at services of worship by leading prayers, assisting with communion, and taking communion to the "shut-ins” and sick following Sunday worship. Appointed by the Rector, they are then licensed for a three-year term by the Bishop. {After fulfilling a term, the Diocese requires individuals to sit out a year before becoming active again.
Lectors
Lectors Read Scripture passages at the 10 AM Sunday and special services.
Ushers
Ushers assist at the 10 AM Sunday service and at special services by assisting the congregation with seating, answering questions, collecting the offering, and bringing the Bread and Wine for Communion to the Altar during the Offertory.
Counters Group
Counts the offering money each Sunday (immediately following the 10 AM service), delivers it to the night depository at the bank, and records the figures for the Treasurer. The Vestry makes appointments to this group.
St. Hilda's Altar Guild
This Guild works with the Rector to ensure that the altar and sanctuary are prepared for all services, provide elements for Holy Eucharist, maintain vestments for worship services, provide flowers for worship services and decorate the Church for major feast days and other special occasions such as weddings.
