Based on the Biblical example of the commissioning of Christ's apostles, St. James the Less has four commissions that oversee our total efforts at mission and ministry. The commissions form the basis to involve as many parishioners as possible in the planning and execution of the ministry of the church and they help to make canonical authority of the Vestry a functional reality in the life of the parish. Commissions each have three Vestry members who are joined by additional persons.

Finance Commission   Provides oversight and direction for all parish concerns related to financial matters, such as: annual and special fund raising activities, annual audits, development of parish budgets, oversight of investment policy and performance, the work of the Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer.

Ministry Commission  Provides oversight and direction for activities related to ministry within the congregation such as Christian education programs, pastoral care, and worship leadership.

Property Commission   Provides oversight and direction for all concerns related to the upkeep, repair, improvement, and beautification of all church property, buildings, and grounds.

Outreach & Pastoral Care Commission   Oversees our engagement in outreach projects that benefit individuals in the community and the world. This commission plans activities and frequently coordinates its efforts through other church and community organizations.
